Somebody Call The Doctor

So the huge news of the day is obviously the Miguel Cabrera arrest.  I can't say I'm surprised.  Many people who have drinking problems have relapses.  I'm not going to call him an alcoholic.  But the guy obviously has problems when he drinks.  The Tigers knew this before they signed him, and hopefully the timing of this will refocus his efforts on dealing with the problem.  Maybe in the long run this will be the best for Miguel.  So on that note, I will save my outrage for after all the details have come out and the Tigers have made some decisions about what they want to do about the situation.  Miguel is going to be the highest paid player in baseball this year.  He is going to put up outstanding numbers.  This arrest may be a blessing in disguise.  If he really was drinking again and it wasn't discovered it may have cost the Tigers the Central Division.  Instead the issue happened before spring training started.  He can turn this around and show that even though he has made mistakes he can still be a stand out.  So Tigers faithful, lets support this guy.  Instead of badmouthing him or demanding his trade, we should support him and the organization.  Just look what Josh Hamilton was able to do in Texas.  Miguel is a young man with a bright future.  People make mistakes and luckily he is well positioned to get the help he really needs.
